By Michael Allingham
So, this got a low rating because it wasn't what I
expected at all. It's boring and mathy. I'm pretty good at math, but that doesn't mean it's enjoyable. As an introduction, this should be accessible. Nope, it's difficult to
read and follow. Reading this book was like homework.
Normally I really enjoy the Very Short Introduction
series since I love finding out at least a little about every subject
imaginable. So I guess the only real way that this book paid off was
to teach me that I never want to know anything else about Choice Theory.
As a strange postscript, in a technical book with almost
no real-life examples, the author keeps railing against progressive taxation.
Even if you agree with this, here it's a total non-sequitor.
